Dow Jones Yearly Chart (1929-2009)

Although yearly charts are not used for trading, here is the interesting facts about the Dow Jones yearly charts.
The image shows the yearly chart from 1929 to 2009.
The indicator TRIX(to know more about this indicator visit
http://www.incrediblecharts.com/technical/trix_indicator.php )

The TRIX which was negative during great recession/depression during the year 1929, which is turned positive during the year 1950, is NEVER came negative again!!. (Hope it should not come negative again at least during our lifespan)

Between the year 1929-2009, only two signals were generated in yearly charts as shown in the image!!.

  • SELL signal in the year 1929. TRIX value: -1.75
  • BUY signal in the year 1950. TRIX value +1.45
The TRIX reached its peak value +149.17 in the year 2000 and turned downward direction from that point.

When Dow Jones index reached its peak value i.e 14280 in the year 2007, the TRIX was 80.16.

The present value of TRIX is 56.83.

SELL signal in Dow Jones yearly charts will be triggered only if TRIX reaches 0 (ZERO) value which is MOST unlikely.

Please note the TRIX is currently in downward direction and hopefully it will change the direction at some point of time.
